On The River (Again)

Here’s a second look at leaves approaching a chute on the Farmington River; this time, in toned black and white. The aim here was to stop the movement so that the leaves appear to float in space. The brightest points in the picture are where the leaf surfaces above the water.

The big leaves in the picture are from American sycamore; massive trees found along river banks in eastern North America. It was on one of these leaves, that Tom Sawyer wrote the reassuring note to his Aunt Polly, “We ain’t dead—we are only off being pirates.”
