Where we live in northwest Connecticut, the fall foliage is now closing in on peak. With these photographs (taken on Tuesday), I wanted to see if I could capture the enveloping darkness and deep flood of color that is present on a late-day walk behind our home. Shadows are gaining strength in these woods, and after 3pm, the sunlight in the canopy is beginning to feel like embers.
