Yesterday we rode over to the eastern half of the state and I took the bike onto the Rockville Spur rail trail in Vernon CT. The route heads north on the former railbed after leaving the more popular Hop River Rail Trail behind. In early November, one pedals through pockets of late fall color, past many glimpses of backyard America. At the north end, old factory buildings are seen below; views that would be home anywhere north of here in New England.
The trail also passes an intriguing mural found on the tunnel walls below I-84. Above, one hears the thunder of motor and truck traffic between Boston and NYC. The contrast of all that noise with this artwork and the snail-pace of the rail trail is striking. The mural was painted by Alex Pock and Michael DeAngelo

This is fricken awesome, John. Thanks.
