Sessions Woods

Yesterday’s walk in Sessions Woods found me in the “post-leaf” landscape of the northern half of the forest. With shorts on, it’s hard to find use for the word “wintry” but it’s certainly beginning to look like it. The blanket of crunchy fallen leaves created a obstacle course along the trail, with hidden roots determined to trip me at least once. A trekking pole was little help; fortunately the camera wasn’t bruised, just the knee.

On the way back near the visitor center I walked into an unexpected pocket of remaining fall. The maple on the right was brilliant orange and the birches pale shades of yellow. I did shoot it in color but since November is now in charge, a sepia tone was handed the verse.
