Sometimes it can feel nice to let the golden autumn leaves play a supporting role, as in the first picture. The second picture immediately catches your interest as the red leaves are reminiscent of blooming red water lilies. The wave pattern in the upper left corner is also an exciting complement. But now it probably won’t be more than a week here before the color shock is over, when the frosty nights have started night after night.
Quite interesting, how you’ve unpacked what you’re looking at. It’s been an especially colorful October, and so I’ve had to remind myself to look for those “supporting roles.” You’re also right about the expiration date 😉– about a week to go (we’ve already had two frosts). Yesterday we hiked ten miles east of here, an area lower in elevation. It’s closing in on peak color there… and just past it here.
One thing about the two pictures which I should’ve written about is the contrast between them in depth of field. The one on the left has minimal focus and the one on the right was stopped down more. They look alike; but not really. I thought it was interesting to see them side by side…
