When I was 17, I saw John and Yoko perform “Give Peace a Chance” to a few dozen stragglers in Columbus Circle after an anti-war rally there had concluded. This was a few blocks from where John wrote this song a few years later (in ’77). And not far from where he was murdered…
I love this series. It’s hard to pick a favorite. I am an incurable skyaphile ( Is that a word) so pictures with sky always attract me. The ones in this series present very ordinary (hence the title!) summer images but they are captured in their ephemeral moments (cloudwise) with grace and beauty. This one substitues a lone bird for tree tops. Bravo!

I don’t want to call myself nostalgic, but their lyrics and songwriting have survived most of it.
