Hmm, I see two images with a tree acting as a clear dividing line—one clearly leading something specific away, and the other drawing the eye toward the undefined. It turned out so completely different from the previous shot taken at the same spot.
You raise in interesting point. We all spend time visiting preserves and generally the images are taken within those boundaries. This picture was taken at the entrance to the preserve. If you pardon my attempt at humor, the preserve is on the left and the rest of the world curves off to the right. To my eye, these diverging subjects are unified by the tree (with its branches in “both” pictures) but also the strength of the converging lines on the ground and the blanket of fog
