Bungalow Shades

I took this picture on Sunday afternoon with the late afternoon light filtering through the June woods. The historic bungalow serves as the administration building for Paugnut State Forest and is commonly known as the “Burr Pond Bungalow.”

Like many similar park buildings, the cabin was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during FDR’s Work Projects era (1933-1937). The stone and wood structure is in northwest Connecticut, but would fit in well on the rim of the Grand Canyon.

I selected a coffee tone for this picture because the bungalow’s 90+ years deserves it. And the square format seemed to say, “I’ve settled here to blend into these woods for good.”
