The streams aren’t iced up like a month ago, and you’re right, there’s a sense of change in the air. It was just above freezing here two days ago; chilly, but the moist snow made snowshoeing a bit of a slog

Beautiful photo, John. Untouched snow is the best, rounding down to the dark holes of the creek. Last week, when I went to bed, there had fallen around 5cm snow, which is quite a lot for the nowadays Netherlands. So I planned to go out early and do some shooting. When I woke up next morning it had all disappeared, totally.. 🙂
Thanks Harrie. Based on the number of classic Dutch paintings of winter, it seems there was once a time when you could count on finding snow in the morning. Unfortunately, we’re in a new ball game with respect to climate
