Thanks Philip, and thanks as well for your timely post this morning. Keep up the good work✍
That dusk feeling, 4 o’clock afternoon.
Yes. I wanted the look of tintypes (ferrotypes being the more accurate name). Metallic cold dusk
I just love this image. True scary mystery with the figure in the window. Fantastic. Like a short story.
Thanks Ed. If there’s a story in there, I’m doing something right
Nice. There’s a lot to wonder about – not just the reflection, but the structure, too. Like Ed, I can see something threatening here, even though I know it’s you. Maybe it’s the tension between the domestic space (the building) and the deep snow.
Happy you like this one, Lynn. The posture in my reflection unfurled in such an interesting way. And the picture has grown on me considerably since I posted it (unusual!)
…by the way, I found that driftwood on the wall after Hurricane Sandy
So it IS your place, I wondered. Nice!
We came out shortly after Hurricane Sandy to attend Joe’s nephew’s wedding, which they decided not to cancel. It was so strange, from flooded subways to the hotel full of electrical workers to his sister’s cold house and the wedding venue feeling weird. Nice to think you were scouring the beaches at the same time we were stuck in the Nassau County suburbs.
That driftwood is very similar to the type of Japanese calligraphy that gets super loose – grass script.
