Freeze Frame ii

When I unpacked the second picture in the series, it looked complicated enough to come with operating instructions. You’re looking at a close-up view of ice at the edge of a pond; the last rays of sunlight skirting across the surface. Those are reflecting branches in the upper right and leaves encased in ice below. That adds up to three subject planes, if I’m counting correctly.

This picture, as well as the previous one, were taken during a frigid walk to the pond adjacent to Indian Council Caves in northwest CT. As usual, my camera was in the saddle bag, but alas: I’d forgotten my memory card. So, you’re looking at a relatively rare capture from my cell phone.

  1. When you mention that the memory card wasn’t in the camera, the recognition factor becomes high. It has happened to me more than once in the past year that the card was left in the computer’s card reader.

    1. Yep, that’s the same place mine was, although it’s only the first time this year for me. I have lost two pair of eyeglasses this year while photographing, so I might have you beat on that score 😏

  2. The real master produces masterful photos even with a phone camera. Thank you for a year of pleasure with your photography. Have a merry Christmas and a creative New Year, John.

  3. This one is so mysterious – have to say that before I read your text. OK, good – I figured it out before reading – and I love the complexity. Your mishap proves the point of the best camera is the one… you know! But damn I hate it when that happens, especially with 2 slots! Double stupidity! 😉

    Beautiful colors again.

    1. I’m glad you figured it out before reading. I debated whether or not to say anything, although there’s a good argument for always saying something

  4. There has to be a way to alert us to cards left in the computer. As for the glasses, I don’t know. Once they’re dropped in the woods somewhere, good luck finding them. 😦
