Hatchery Sun

The last image from the Burlington state hatchery returns to one of the trout pools bathed in sunlight. The cooler-toned palettes from the previous two images were photographed in shade. There’s a lot of fish in these pictures, so the images can be clicked for a full sized file. Hope you enjoyed the swim ☺️

  1. I feel like I’m standing in a museum in Northern Europe, staring at an Old Master. This is superb. There’s just the right amount of detail to maintain a sense of flow and entice the eyes inward. I also like the way the background seems to recede so far into the distance.

Oh yes, I enjoyed the swim!

      1. This one’s my favorite. Something that amuses me (there’s so much to see here!) is the light blue reflection at the lower left with black lines in it – the lines made me think of cracks in the paint on old oil paintings and when I looked closely I think I saw a reflection of a chain link fence. 🙂

        1. That similarity to thick brush strokes was an unexpected pleasure. There are reflections of netting in the pictures. It’s strung over the pools to keep osprey from stealing fish 🙂

          1. Netting to keep the birds away, that makes sense! I think another thing that really makes this appealing to me overall is the preponderance of curves, soft curves like those a hand or arm might make in space while doing any number of things.
