Great Mountain Forest, Norfolk CT
Click to enlarge. I can’t make up my mind which I prefer, although I feel more of an urge to print the black and white. But that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. 😊

It’s a coin toss for me, too. You can’t go wrong with either one. If it were up to me I’d print both. Prints always convey a slightly different message than what you see on a screen.
Great point about prints; by nature, they’re going to hold attention in a different way than anything online
In this particular case, I would personally prefer the color version, where the colors beneath the surface take on an important sense of authenticity. The depth of the image is thus enhanced and gives a calmer and less harsh expression.
I re-read your comment several times. I really like the way you deep-dive your readings of any photograph
Have gone backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards between both photos. Both are great. But I would plump for the one in black and white. The colour versión announces the sky, yet the b and w keeps you guessing and one is focused more on the lines, textures and shapes. (My very humble opinion)
Thanks Geoff, I think I lean that way too. I like the inky look
A magnificent image.
Many thanks Ed
Color version for me. The colors are subtle and delicate and show me the shallow depth of the water and hints of what’s going on the bottom; which is quite lost in the b&w.
Yeah, definitely more of a sense of water depth in color ⭐
For me, the color version has more movement. There are warm and cool hues and different places to pause and enjoy myself.
Good points. I like the idea of “pauses”
