I’m working on some close-ups of breaking waves taken over the last few weeks. The color tone is reminiscent of some of the earliest photographic processes, especially tintypes and ambrotypes. The grain is produced by salt spray and from shooting into the sun. I didn’t want much in focus in the pictures, mainly the plane where the break is unfolding.

Beautiful shot, John.
Thanks so much Ken
The deformation of the water in the wave crests, or perhaps formation, is very exciting to watch, always completely unpredictable. Here you have created a tension between the soft calm shadow areas and the angry breaking waves, which attracts my eyes.
Big like for your comment, Hans. Thanks
The strong contrast give me a feeling of depth of field that may not be there in means of sharpness. Striking beauty!
You’ve touched on something really interesting, Ule. It made me think.
They are gorgeous
Many thanks 🌟🖐
Interesting! I really like this lean into abstraction, where one element (water) becomes another (earth). Or wet becomes dry, in a way. I think there are many, many ways to read this image.
Thanks. I may try to add a couple more to this group. Appreciate the comment
