A few weeks ago we visited the tri-state monument at the border of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The obelisk has been there since the 1880’s and can only be reached by foot.

Strange object. The way you set it in scene makes it seem even stranger.
The remote setting and the fact that borders are artificial constructs gave the low angle a sense of ironic mystery. At least that’s what I thought…
Your thought reaches out for the viewer, John.
But if it finds the viewer confused, is that a good thing?
Of course, yes! It makes the viewer think. It doesn’t allow them to just pass by saying “nice picture”.
