Beautiful image, John. So peaceful…soft morning light and mist. I don’t know if that is a church or some other building but it gives a sort of spiritual, or perhaps traditional, grounding to the image….wonderful sense of place.
That’s not a church, but I’m happy to hear how the picture reads to your eyes. This is the neighboring town to where the bearing plant was located. Thanks for stopping by, Mic.
A couple of weeks ago I was going through some of my old books and ran across “The Spirits of ’76” by Eric Sloane. I think that book probably gave rise to my comment about the building. I noticed this morning that his signature in the Foreword to the book was written in Warren CT not far from where the photo was made. I love your photography, John; beautiful images of course but also subject matter that I often relate to. 🙂 I appreciate it.
I need to get reacquainted with his work, especially now that our son has relocated to this area.
I appreciate your thoughtful comments this morning. Thanks so much.
Wow! This is a beautiful, early morning (perhaps) image of small town America, timeless and alluring.
Including the steeple in the equation gives it a humanity it might otherwise have been missing.
Your observation about the effect of the steeple is very good. Appreciate the comment!
