Beckley Furnace Industrial Monument, North Canaan CT
In 1728, a group of surveyors with erratic compass readings stumbled upon iron ore in northwest Connecticut. For over a century the industry thrived, providing cannonballs for the American Revolution, and ship anchors for the fleet in Boston. These days, there’s nothing left other than a few slag piles and a lone blast furnace chimney at the edge of the Blackberry River.
The Connecticut History site has an interesting short piece on the topic here.

Hi John and you’re welcome. Wishing you a great weekend, too!
thank you!
A great picture. It’s as if, a mystical portal to the unknown.
I took two versions of this, a full view of the portal, and this one with just a bit of a nose line created by the wall. Thanks for commenting.
Great shot, John. Nice perspective.
Thanks
