      1. I haven’t spent much time along the West River, but I know it was a favorite of landscape artists such as Aldro Hibbard (1886-1972). He tried to convey the natural beauty of the area and also to capture remnants of “old New England” before they disappeared.

        1. I wasn’t familiar with Hibbard, thanks. His paintings certainly captured those remnants. I like the gradual descent the West makes from the Greens down to the Connecticut. The landscapes it flows through are gentle, pastoral and free of the development clutter that occupies so many other places.
