  1. There is a depression in the privately-owned woods about six hundred feet from this sign which, according to some, is the footprint of the Brady family cabin.

    I might be wrong, but I suspect that this is the only highway sign in the United States commemorating a photographer.

    Despite widespread acclaim for his work during photography’s formative years, Brady died penniless and blind.

  2. The idea of looking up into the heavens like that was brilliant, with that transcendent light. It’s a fitting corrective to the tragic end that you described.
