      Last summer at a show at Yale I saw a small salt print that Talbot made of a similar scene in Scotland over 170 years ago. It’s been with me since.

  1. There’s so much to appreciate, between the glassy lake, the precise angle of the canoe, just so, and the fine detail in the trees, like a very old painting. Subtle pleasures.

    1. Thanks Lynn. As I mentioned to Martin above, it conjures the past for me as well. I have stereoviews photographed in New Hampshire during the 1860’s which have a similar feel.
