That is so interesting Gilles. What is the expression for “smoking fox” in French? If that colloquialism is also popular in Quebec, it’s probably been applied to these woods — Montreal is less than 100 miles away.
“renard qui fume” I have heard this expression in the French Ardennes, only … and not often !
