Thanks Martin. I’ve been hoping to achieve something of that feel in Asian floral painting. Lots of mosquitos in this instance.
I think you’re succeeding.
Magnificent, John!
Thanks so much Dina.
Wonderful image!
Much appreciated.
Oohh…this is interesting! love it. more please…
haha thanks.. indeed, more are on the way 🙂
I thought Japanese too! I love how like a painting it is – did you do anything particular with processing to achieve that or was it all an in camera thing? It’s beautiful.
Thanks Cath. For this image (and the similar ones in the Bog Shapes and Shallows galleries) I’m using a telephoto at 150mm or 300mm (35mm equivalent). To achieve the background on this image I shot into the morning sun and overexposed a bit. Later In processing, I desaturated the colors a touch and lightened the background just a bit as well. During shooting and processing I do whatever I can to avoid water with unwanted detail. Yeah, I’ve been curious how much you can get a straight photograph to look like historic Chinese floral paintings.
Ah, lovely. Like a Japanese zen painting.
Thanks Ashley
This so resembles a painting superb.
