The picture was taken a few years ago on a swampy riverbank in North Carolina. The branches are from Baldcypress. Among the pictures I’ve taken with a normal lens, this one’s a personal favorite.

Amazing… there is a poetical touches in this photograph. Great shot. Thank you, love, nia
thanks Nia…much appreciated!
Fantastic – makes me think of Japanese lettering somehow – I like too how the image falls into three distinct places..
Thanks Cath. I like those things about it too–those partitions were certainly helped along by having such a dense fog.
Too busy staring to know what to say . . . . . such beautiful work!
wow thanks Patti. thanks for commenting.
Bellissima…

Thanks Adrian.
All of the above!
Wow, Chris –but I’m not sure I deserve all those compliments at once.. Thanks! 🙂
Well I meant all has been said! Take it in small doses?
Some days it’s about “right time…right place…good camera”. 😉
so true!
Love that look – gorgeous. North Carolina is full of great subject, isn’t it?.
It is full of great subject. I especially like poking around in the nooks and crannies of Pamlico Sound.
Definitely dreamy. Such a different take on a bald cypress from one I recently posted:
But these are great trees, so it’s not surprising that they lend themselves to such different interpretations (like the blind men and the elephant).
Thanks Steve and thanks for the link.
You’re right–these spindly branches work well in an image like this but hardly convey the immensity and cragginess of old growth Baldcypress. I’ve seen unforgettable trees in North Carolina and elsewhere–I’m sure you have too. If I could grant a wish for eastern North America it would be to bring back the Singer Track, and all the other wilderness where these amazing trees once grew.
WOW! + I like what an above commenter said about the three (parts) also.
Thanks Rose.
Amica nebbia…! bellissima
Era straordinario — grazie.
