A view from the corner of one of the few remaining structures in Widtsoe, an historic Mormon ranching settlement in central Utah which dates to the 19th century.
The picture required a bit of contrast-muzzling, but once that was accomplished it seemed amplify the sense of space and mood. This is one of those places where the light can get under your skin…even at mid-day.
I’ll be posting more from Widtsoe next week.

Looking forward to seeing the other pictures!
thanks, Charles.
John what a wonderful composition and toning. Wow. There is something in the picture that is more than meets the eye! Love the window in window.
…thanks Chris…it took a stroll through ACR and Silver Efex first, especially for opening up the shadow detail. I’m happy to hear you like the tone…thanks again for the feedback.
I love the way you ‘balanced’ the highlights and the dark parts. Without making it look a HDR shot 😉
thx
Chris said the right thing. HDR would be boring. Your grey-tones are excellent.
Thanks…as always, your comments are much appreciated!
HDR has its place in this world I suppose, but it holds no interest for me.
I really like this one. 🙂
Thank you!

Thanks for the nomination Chris–I appreciate and very much value your interest in my work.
I must have missed this one while travelling- A truly great image! I like the window framed within the other window, and balance between the shadow & light is nearly perfect.
thanks Josh–that balance you describe is one of the most elusive things I can think of.
The window-within-a-window just takes me out and keeps going, going. Trippy mixture of inside and outside here which is very appealing.
Thanks, Anna.
