EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS:

John uses a Hasselblad with 38mm, 80mm and 180mm lenses for most of his work. He also works with a Contax G2 35mm system and a Canon G10.

John's images are captured on negatives, transparencies or with a digital camera. No image-enhancing filters are ever used. Images recorded on film are carefully scanned with high resolution film scanners. The intention of scanning film is to maintain the integrity of the original source, to catalogue or archive the work, and to allow printing on long lasting materials. All of John's prints are pigmented ink giclee images made with paper and inks that represent the finest printing materials currently available to photographers in terms of print longevity and image quality.

John believes that greater meaning and depth can be achieved in each image if the artist is intimately involved with all phases of its production. Therefore, each aspect of the process, whether it be shooting, scanning, Photoshop, printing or matting, is done exclusively by John Todaro.
